We love seeing users leveraging Canvs AI, especially Asa / AI Story Assist, to quickly summarize Transcripts and compare major themes across respondents or other respondent metadata.


​Current Import Process

  • Prepare your transcript data Format as XLSX, CSV, VTT, or ZIP file containing multiple transcripts

  • For XLSX/CSV: Organize responses in rows with columns for role, speaker, and timestamp

  • For VTT: Ensure proper formatting with timestamps and speaker identification

  • For ZIP: Include properly formatted transcript files (XLSX, CSV, or VTT)

  • Analyze your transcripts Use Asa to summarize sessions by respondent

  • Ask Asa questions about specific sessions or overall themes

  • Compare insights across different segments or demographics

Supported File Formats

  1. XLSX/CSV - Standard spreadsheet formats

    • Each row represents a single response/utterance

    • Required columns: speaker name, response text

    • Recommended columns: timestamp, role, session ID

  2. VTT (WebVTT) - Video Text Tracks format

    • Standard caption/subtitle format used by video platforms

    • Automatically preserves speaker identification and timestamps

    • Can be exported directly from most transcription services

    • ZIP Archives Contains multiple transcript files (XLSX, CSV, or VTT)

    • Each file is processed as a separate session

    • File names are used as session identifiers

    • Useful for batch processing multiple interview sessions
