Asa Pro (Beta): Custom Default Prompts

Set your preferred starting point for each dataset in Asa Pro (Beta).

Updated yesterday

Custom Default Prompts in Asa Pro let you pre-set your go-to analysis question for each dataset. Once set, the prompt runs automatically whenever you start a new conversation in that project. This saves time, reduces setup, and ensures a consistent starting point for your analysis.

Key Benefits

  • Instant analysis: Asa Pro runs your chosen prompt right away

  • Project-specific: Set unique defaults for different projects

  • User-specific: Your default doesn’t affect anyone else

  • No extra clicks: Launches automatically when Asa starts

Setting a Custom Default Prompt

Before You Begin

To set a custom default prompt:

  • Open the dataset in Canvs

  • Make sure Asa Pro is active

  • Start a conversation to access the Prompt Library

Steps to Set a Default Prompt

  1. Open the Prompt Library by clicking the icon next to the input field or pressing the spacebar

  2. Browse your saved prompts

  3. Click Mark Default next to the one you want

  4. The button will turn green and display Default

Note: Only one default prompt can be active per dataset per user.

Managing Default Prompts

To Change a Default Prompt

  • Open the Prompt Library and select a new prompt using Mark Default

  • The new selection will replace the previous one

To Remove a Default Prompt

  • Click the green Default button to deselect it

  • Asa Pro (Beta) will return to using the standard Canvs default prompt

Prompt Types Eligible for Defaults

You can set any saved prompt as a default, including:

  • Canvs prompts: Available to all users

  • Organization prompts: Shared across your team

  • User prompts: Private to your account

Best Practices

  • Defaults are user-specific and dataset-specific: Each user can set one default prompt per dataset. Other users and projects are not affected.

  • Test before setting: Always run the prompt manually first to confirm it returns useful results.

  • Think long-term: Choose prompts that offer broad value or align with repeat use cases like trackers or brand studies.

  • Use organization-level prompts for alignment: Shared prompts help teams stay consistent across projects.

  • Defaults can be changed or removed at any time: Update your default as your needs evolve.

  • No default? No problem: If no custom default is set, Asa Pro will automatically run the standard Canvs prompt (Overview & Key Takeaways).
