This enhanced feature streamlines the process by automatically converting supported files—including single VTT files or ZIP archives containing TXT, DOC, or VTT files—into a CSV format that works seamlessly with the Canvs Uploader.
No more manual formatting, column detection, or filter setup—the system does the heavy lifting so you can focus on analyzing your data.
🔍 What’s New?
✨ Support for ZIP Files
In addition to uploading single VTT files, users can now upload ZIP files containing multiple transcript files in TXT, DOC, or VTT formats. These files are automatically converted to CSV and prepared for import using the same uploader workflow.
⚠️ Note: ZIP files containing CSV or XLSX files will be skipped, as these formats are already supported natively by the Uploader.
✅ Key Benefits
Predefined File Structure
The converted CSV file uses a consistent structure that integrates smoothly with the Canvs uploader—no need to adjust formatting or manually batch responses.
Automatic Column Detection
Verbatims: The system determines the correct column containing your open-ended responses.
Timestamps: Extracted from the source transcript and stored as a filterable column.
Speakers: If consistently labeled (e.g., “Speaker 1:” or “SPEAKER_01”), speaker names are captured and filtered automatically.
✨Seamless ZIP Support
TXT, DOC, and VTT files within a ZIP archive are automatically detected and processed—perfect for batch uploads.
Non-supported formats (XLSX, CSV, etc.) are skipped during processing to avoid errors.
⚙️ How It Works
1. Upload Your File
Navigate to the Uploader in Canvs AI.
Choose to upload a Transcript file.
Select either a single VTT or a ZIP file containing supported formats (TXT, DOC, VTT).
2. Automatic Conversion
The file(s) are sent to a backend service that parses the content and returns a fully structured CSV.
The uploader advances through the standard wizard steps automatically—no changes required.
3. Review and Confirm
Review the detected columns and ensure the verbatims, timestamps, and speaker details are accurate.
Confirm to complete the import process.
💡 Troubleshooting Tips
Missing Speaker Data?
Make sure the file uses consistent speaker labels (e.g., “Speaker 1:”).
Timestamps Not Working?
Check that your transcript follows the WebVTT timecode format (e.g., 00:01:23.456 --> 00:01:25.789).
Upload Error?
If you see the error message “Datafile could not be processed. Try another file.”, double-check the file type and structure. Only TXT, DOC, and VTT formats are supported inside ZIP archives.
