Reddit Integration for Social tracker

Canvs AI supports Reddit as a social source.

Updated over 3 weeks ago

Canvs AI now supports Reddit as a social source, expanding our suite of integrations alongside YouTube and Facebook. This new feature allows you to import, track, and analyze verbatim Reddit comments from specific posts using our full suite of AI-driven tools— including emotional analysis, topic detection, and AI Story Assist™.

🔗 How to Use the Reddit Integration

Step 1: Add Reddit Post Links

From the Active Dashboard or dataset splash screen:

  1. Click the Reddit source type to begin setup.

  2. Paste up to 10 Reddit post URLs into the input box.

    • Duplicates and invalid links are automatically flagged.

    • A live counter displays how many links have been added.

  3. You can remove any link before continuing.

  4. Click Next to proceed.

✅ Tip: Only Reddit post URLs are supported. Comments or user profile links are not valid inputs.

Step 2: Set Timeframe

Specify the date range for collecting Reddit comments:

  • Start Date: Automatically prefilled based on the oldest post.

  • End Date: Choose between “Indefinitely” or a custom end date.

Step 3: Select AI Analysis Frequency

Choose how often Canvs AI should re-analyze Reddit data:

  • Daily: Analyzed every day by 8:00 AM ET.

  • Weekly: Choose a day (e.g., Monday) for weekly updates.

  • Monthly: Analysis runs at the end of each month.

Each option includes a helpful notification explaining the cadence.

Step 4: Add AI Story Assist™ Custom Questions

Input up to 3 custom analysis questions you’d like Asa (our AI assistant) to answer, such as:

  • “What’s the sentiment trend around this product?”

  • “Pull comments about customer support experiences.”

You can also choose to include Canvs AI-generated Overviews in your results.

Step 5: Assign Email Recipients

Designate who should receive the analysis results:

  • Your email is included by default.

  • Invite new users directly by entering their email.

Step 6: Customize AI Analysis Settings

Configure optional preferences to tailor the analysis:

  • Add general instructions to guide Asa.

  • Define up to 5 preferred nets (e.g., “Positive,” “Trust,” “Complaints”) to shape thematic grouping.

Step 7: Name and Tag the Dataset

Provide essential metadata for your Reddit dataset:

  • Enter a dataset name and context.

  • Choose the relevant industry, type, and tags.

  • Enable optional settings like Rules and Translate.

Step 8: Final Review and Import

Review all your settings:

  • Click Add Reddit Data to initiate import.

  • A confirmation message will appear once import is scheduled.

🔁 You can track and pause/resume this Reddit dataset like any other connected dataset in Canvs.

👀 FAQ

  • Are comments on both reddit threads and subreddit threads included in the tracker?
All Reddit posts are technically "threads" within subreddits. So yes, comments on Reddit posts (threads) within subreddits would be included in the tracker. The tracker collects both the original post content and all comments within that thread.

  • Can any thread links be pasted into the tracker?
The feature is designed for specific post URLs (threads), not entire subreddit URLs. Platform will track one specific post and its comments over time.
"For example, you can track a specific post like 'Why are some sunscreens so cheap?' but not the entire r/skincareaddiction subreddit."

  • "Can add up to 10 links" - is that 10 at a time, or 10 per account?
It's 10 threads per single dataset, not per account. Users can create unlimited trackers/datasets, each containing up to 10 threads.
